Dr. Marjorie E. Kettell, Class of 1947

To honor the outstanding achievements of our alumna in their respective paths post-cooperative living, the Harriet E. Richards Alumnae Association offers the Marjorie E. Kettell Distinguished Alumna Award. The Distinguished Alumna Award also serves to inspire the entire Harriet E. Richards Cooperative community — current students and alumnae alike — to strive to become their best selves.

About

Named in memory and honor of Dr. Marjorie E. Kettell, Class of 1947, the award is presented annually to bestow institutional recognition on one Harriet E. Richards Cooperative House alumna who has distinguished herself in her personal or professional life, in her intellectual pursuits, or in her dedication to service of community, country or society.

Dr. Kettell lived in the HER House from 1943 to 1947 and served on the HER House Alumnae Association Board of Overseers in various capacities in the many decades that followed – including over 20 years as Board President. Through her leadership, Dr. Kettell provided those of us who followed in her footsteps with a clear vision of how HERAA could leverage its strong and vast network of alumnae for the long-term preservation of the HER House itself. Dr. Kettell was an incredibly distinguished woman, scholar, practitioner and community member.

With her legacy in mind, HERAA created the Marjorie E. Kettell Distinguished Alumna Award in spring 2016. The inaugural award was given in memory of Dr. Kettell herself and was presented to her husband Joseph Golner.

Award

Awards will be presented at the Annual Meeting & Alumnae Tea each spring. Distinguished Alumna Award recipients have the chance to give a lecture or presentation at the Meeting & Tea discussing their accomplishments or contributions.
